Job Title or Skills Set Required

The Certified Medical Assistant position is responsible for assisting the physician with all patient flow from check-in to check-out, and through any ordered surgical or in-office procedure.
This individual must possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, excellent critical thinking abilities and a dedication to increased learning.
Duties for Certified Medical Assistant
• Rooming patients and obtaining patient history and vitals.
• Review new patient referrals and accurately chart history in EMR system
• Accurately record and chart all patient interactions and data during office visits in EMR system
• Understand how to operate all in-office equipment
• Assist provider(s) with minor in office surgical procedures
• Clean and sterilize all used minor surgical tools, in accordance with safety guidelines
• Communication in a timely manner with all patients and referring physician’s offices patients ordered procedures
• Obtaining all required insurance authorizations, clearances, and testing prior to scheduling surgical procedures at hospitals or ASC’s
• Scheduling and ordering all imaging and lab tests based on physician orders.
• Process and follow-up on all specimens sent to 3rd party labs
• Accurately send all physician ordered prescriptions via escribe to patient pharmacies using the EMR system
• Timely follow-up of all outstanding requests from other provider offices or facilities
• Documentation of patient encounters
Education and Experience Required
• CMA certification
• Basic knowledge of insurance plans
• Good computer skills
• Good phone communication skills
• Good patient communication skills
• Ability to work with and within a team environment
• Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology
