GED® Preparation
Program Details
The General Educational Development (GED®) Program prepares you for academic and personal success while receiving instruction in the four subject areas that are on the GED® test:
- Reasoning through Language Arts (RLA)
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
All students will be required to create an account on www.ged.com where they will:
- Submit underage waivers to be cleared for testing (16-17 y/o only)
- Submit requests for accommodations
- Purchase and take GED Practice tests—cost is $7.99 per practice test
- Schedule and purchase GED official tests—cost is $38 per official test
Prospective students must be fluent in English.
Upon successfully passing all four tests, students will earn a State of Florida High School Diploma from ged.com.

In-person applications are accepted from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the MTC Main Campus.

Program Length:
This is an individualized program. Program length is dependent on the individual’s circumstances and preparation (prior knowledge, learning ability, and weekly hourly commitment).
Times *:
Day: Mondays – Thursdays
8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Evenings: Mondays – Thursdays
6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Online: Minimum of 10 hours per week and one weekly Zoom meeting

1. PRIOR TO APPLYING, gather the following REQUIRED DOCUMENTS, or the student will not be admitted:
- Valid Government-Issued photo REAL ID or U.S. Passport
- DOWNLOAD DOCUMENTATION OF LAWFUL PRESENCE (PDF, 59KB)
- 16 & 17-year-olds only: Formal high school withdrawal form obtained from the LAST high school attended. The form must include an administrative signature and withdrawal code. Prospective student MUST BE ACTIVELY WITHDRAWN FROM HIGH SCHOOL TO OBTAIN THIS DOCUMENTATION!
2. TO APPLY, it is HIGHLY recommended to come to the MTC main campus on the OPEN APPLICATION DATES. All in-person applicants will be given priority enrollment.
3. Those choosing to APPLY ONLINE must immediately submit the required documents to: MTCGED@manateeschools.net . PLEASE NOTE: Applications will not be processed fully until all documents are received and approved. This means absolutely no placement testing or scheduling can occur.
4. Once the application and documents are received, your Career Counselor will contact you within 5-7 business days to schedule placement tests.
