GED® Preparation
Program Details
The General Educational Development (GED®) Program prepares you for academic and personal success while receiving instruction in the four subject areas that are on the GED® test:
- Reasoning through Language Arts (RLA)
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
All students will be required to create an account on www.ged.com where they will:
- Submit underage waivers to be cleared for testing (16-17 y/o only)
- Submit requests for accommodations
- Purchase and take GED Practice tests—cost is $7.99 per practice test
- Schedule and purchase GED official tests—cost is $38 per official test
Prospective students must be fluent in English.
Upon successfully passing all four tests, students will earn a State of Florida High School Diploma from ged.com.

In-person applications are accepted from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the MTC Main Campus.

Program Length:
This is an individualized program. Program length is dependent on the individual’s circumstances and preparation (prior knowledge, learning ability, and weekly hourly commitment).
Times *:
Day: Mondays – Thursdays
8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Evenings: Mondays – Thursdays
6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Online: Minimum of 10 hours per week and one weekly Zoom meeting

⚠️ IMPORTANT: All GED enrollment requires an IN-PERSON visit to the MTC Main Campus. You must bring all required documents with you, or you cannot be admitted.⚠️
STEP 1: Gather Required Documents (Before You Arrive)
Please have all documents ready prior to applying. Students missing required documents will not be admitted.
- Valid Photo ID: Government-issued REAL ID or Passport (Required to register on GED.com)
- DOWNLOAD DOCUMENTATION OF LAWFUL PRESENCE (PDF, 59KB)
- 16 & 17-year-olds only: Formal high school withdrawal form obtained from the LAST high school attended. The form must include an administrative signature and withdrawal code. Prospective student MUST BE ACTIVELY WITHDRAWN FROM HIGH SCHOOL TO OBTAIN THIS DOCUMENTATION!
STEP 2. Apply in Person at Manatee Technical College
