Car Show Draws over 1,000
Over 1,000 people attended the 4th Annual Car, Truck and Bike Show at Manatee Technical College on Sunday, February 28, 2016. The show featured over 100 entries and 13 awards for pre-war through modern. Jeff Davis won Best in Show for his 1968 Camaro.
Michael Salvatore restored his 1966 Volkswagen “Bug” as a father-son project. He said, “The MTC car show is a great way for people to see the rich history of automobiles here in this area.”
Edward Balcom, a 2013 Lakewood Ranch High School graduate and current student in the Automotive Service Technology program at Manatee Technical College, looks on at one of the custom car show entries.
Bill Lee of Bill Lee Professional Automotive in Ellenton brought four of his race cars. Lee was one of the sponsors for the MTC Car Show. As he spoke with representatives from United Way, he said, “MTC is the shining star of this county for providing technical training in the automotive industry.”

“DJ” Lance Hubschmitt of Collector Cars was on hand to promote the event with music from the 1940s to today. He said, “The MTC show is an excellent event that offers much for attendees to see and do.” Lance has been the DJ for over 2,600 car shows.
The proceeds from the event will help send MTC’s automotive students to state and national SkillsUSA Championships.
