This course provides knowledge and skills in venous and capillary specimen collection, handling of specimens according to OSHA regulations and performing routine diagnostic hematology tests.

At the completion of the course, students are eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Phlebotomy Technician Certification. Students entering this course will work with currently enrolled students in the Medical Assisting Hybrid Program.

Pre-requisites: Must be 18 years or older. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Immunizations – documentation to be provided by the student.
Proof of health insurance – documentation to be provided by the student.

*Cost does not include optional certification exam of $117.

Due to restrictions related to COVID19, the phlebotomy course will be only offered as a simulated, 100% online course for this semester (Spring 2020). Online methods include Canvas, NHA learning modules, SIMTICS virtual training.  There will be no in-person clinical instruction, all skills learning will take place in a virtual setting. The course will meet via Zoom at least once a week, in the evening. In November 2020, the blended online in-person course will resume.
