Mother and daughter Melissa and Hannah Royce enjoy the Day of Beauty at Manatee Technical College. It was a first-time pedicure for both of them. “It’s awesome!” said high-school senior Hannah. “I’ll definitely be back—next time for a facial!” Cosmetology students offered facials, make-up, haircuts, hair color, manicures, pedicures, waxing and more on March 5 to raise money to compete at the National SkillsUSA Championships. Nail students Adriana Moldonado (front) and Jennifer Ovalle are both dual-enrolled high school students at MTC. Melissa (mom) said, “The girls are very professional. It’s a very comfortable experience.” The next Day of Beauty is set for April 2, 2016.
Cheryl Bourque has her hair styled by cosmetology student Lynn Marie Ortiz. “Every chance I get, I come here,” said Bourque, executive assistant to the legal department for Manatee District Schools. “I’ve done facials, cut, color. I enjoy talking with the students. They do a great job—if not better than a salon! I was here Thursday evening for a cut, and at work the next day everyone was loving my hair!” At the March 5 Day of Beauty at Manatee Technical College, Bourque got a “peek-a-boo” color, style and make-up to get ready for an anniversary dinner with her husband. The student clinic at MTC is open two Saturdays a month, as well as several days and evenings throughout the week. To make an appointment, call 941.751.7900.
