Five Manatee Technical College graduations, week of 6/13
The Practical Nursing program graduated 14 students also on Wednesday, June 15. Graduate Kindall Schlemmer led the Pledge of Allegiance; Susan Knowles was the student speaker; and Chelsea Burnett led her class in reciting the Nurses’ Pledge of Service. Family or friends presented each graduate with her pin. The MTC East Campus program held their pinning ceremony in Cantrell Hall at the Main Campus. (Bradenton, FL—June 20, 2016) Manatee Technical College held five program graduations during the week of June 13, 2016, for the following programs: Child care Apprenticeship, Practical Nursing, Dental Assisting, Medical Assisting, and Law Enforcement.
The Florida Law Enforcement Academy at Manatee Technical College held a combined graduation for both its day and night classes on Thursday, June 16, at the Main Campus. The day class had 13 graduates, and the evening class had six. Special awards went to members of both classes. Best Driver: Gerardo Santiago (day) and Joshua Young (night); Top Gun: Zachary Kiefer (day) and Travis Dunlap (night); and, Highest Academic Score: Ryan Wenger (day) and Mitchell Hardy (night). Class leaders Brian Sands (day) and Thomas Ogle (night) were recognized; each presented Academy director Jay Romine a plaque. MTC Director Doug Wagner made opening remarks. Colonel Rick Wells, Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, gave the Invocation and Benediction. The guest speaker was Chief Scott Tyler, Palmetto Police Department.
The Medical Assisting program graduated nine students also on Thursday, June 16, at the MTC East Campus. Graduates were Nancy Alvarado, Janet Balderas, Amy Congilaro, Fernando Mejia, Vidalia Monsivais, Sunny Perez, Linda Rampone, Lauren Ritchie, and Romina Ronda. Pastor Mario Monsivais was the guest speaker; and class president Amy Congilaro also addressed the graduates.
The Dental Assisting program graduated 17 students, at the MTC East Campus on June 15. Five of the dental assisting graduates were members of the National Technical Honor Society. Rebekah Gillett won the MTC Dental Assisting Program Award of Excellence sponsored by the Manatee Dental Society for the highest GPA and perfect attendance. Taylor Berkey was presented the Terrissa Kay Kenney Wilson Memorial Award Recognizing Excellence in Attendance for perfect attendance. Student speakers were Jalissa Evans and Hector Reyes.

The Child care Apprenticeship program graduated 18 students earlier in the week on Monday, June 13, at the MTC Main Campus. Board member David Miner was there to shake hands with each graduate as they received their certificates. A string quartet from Braden River High School performed for the ceremony.
