Free training at MTC to open doors to careers in vision care

(Bradenton, FL—April 5, 2019) Manatee Technical College is offering express training to open the door to career opportunities in the field of vision care.  The one-month Optometric Express class starts May 7 and will be held at the East Campus.

The training will be free to those who qualify, thanks to a collaboration with CareerSource Suncoast.  Prospective students must contact MTC career counselor Amy Gates at 941.752.8100 x 2032 or gates2a@manateeschools.net by April 18.

The express training meets the qualifications for the first course in the optometric assisting career certificate program.  Express training completers will have the option of applying to attend and complete the full program, which will begin in August.

MTC assistant director Dr. Jennifer Gilray said, “According to our advisory council members, there are employers ready to offer jobs to some of the express training completers because of the high demand.”

MTC East Campus is located at 5520 Lakewood Ranch Boulevard, Bradenton.
