Local manufacturers hope to inspire students Oct 5 at MTC

(Bradenton, FL-October 2, 2018) On October 5, local manufacturers will be at Manatee Technical College<manateetech.edu/> hoping to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. About 200 to 300 students from MTC and area high schools will hear their presentations from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in Cantrell Hall. The event will mark National Manufacturing Day, which is being celebrated across the country. The community is invited. Here is the October 5 line-up at MTC: 9:00- Ariel Bollero, Director of Body Shop, Feld Motor Sports and Monster Jam 9:30- Gretchen Bauer, Founder and CEO, BSwanky (high-end handbags www.bswanky.com<www.bswanky.com>) 10:00-John McCarthy, Executive Director, Historic Spanish Point, will present the history of manufacturing in Manatee and Sarasota counties. “Let’s all celebrate Manufacturing Day and the benefits manufacturing careers bring to our community,” said event organizer and MTC business and industry specialist Martha Meyers. Manufacturing is one of the highest paying industry sectors in Manatee County. With career certificate programs such as Advanced Manufacturing, Electrical Instrumentation (new), and Welding Technologies, Manatee Technical College is focused on providing the workforce training to address the workforce demands of the community. Manatee County is home to over 300 manufacturers, which provide over 10,000 jobs in our community. “The demand for qualified and skilled workers in our community is not slowing down, and MTC will continue to strive to meet that challenge,” said Meyers. “Manufacturing Day is a great way to bring awareness of viable career opportunities.” About Manatee Technical College Manatee Technical College is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education.
