Manatee Tech wins two Keep Manatee Beautiful awards
Manatee Technical Institute won two Keep Manatee Beautiful awards at the 17th annual awards celebration on September 18 in Lakewood Ranch. The Digital Video Production students won the Media Community Relations award for their creation of a public service announcement for Keep Manatee Beautiful. Instructor Bob Burwell received the award on behalf of the students (see photo). The Main Campus won the Green Schools award in the Higher Education category. Other Manatee District Schools winning the Green Schools award in their respective education level categories were Williams Elementary School, Lincoln Middle School, and Southeast High School. Green Schools strive to have a litter- and graffiti-free campus, landscape the campus using native Florida plants, conserve natural resources and energy sources, improve water quality and contribute to the enhancement of the community’s physical environment. Also that evening, Sugg Middle School won an Outstanding Volunteer Group award for their participation in the Adopt-A-Shore program.
