Meyers nominated for Education-Workforce Partner Award
Martha Meyers, Manatee Technical Institute, has been nominated for the 2014 Education-Workforce Partner Award by CareerSource Suncoast (CSS).
One of the requirements for the award nomination is that the individual is a “champion for workforce collaboration.”
“Martha has been instrumental in the success we have had at Manatee Technical Institute. She has been key to our ability to successfully connect with students at a satellite office on their campus,” said Michael Smart, Assistant Director, CareerSource Suncoast.
Meyers, a career counselor at Manatee Tech, has been serving as a liaison between the school and local businesses and manufacturers. She has been working closely with the Bradenton Area Economic Development Corporation and CareerSource Suncoast to provide training for area business and industry and match MTI graduates with employers.
The winner will be announced at the 5th Annual Workforce Professional Development Summit on October 31 in Orlando.
The Florida Workforce Professional Development Summit is a collaboration between Florida’s key workforce organizations, CareerSource Florida, the Department of Economic Opportunity, and the Florida Workforce Development Association.
Meyers is co-chair of the CareerSource Suncoast Skills Development Council with Mark DeHaan of Sun Trust Bank.
