Meyers Educ-Wkforce Award

(Bradenton, FL—October 23, 2015)  Martha Meyers, business and industry services specialist for Manatee Technical College, won the 2015 Education-Workforce Partner Award from the Florida Workforce Development Association.  CareerSource Suncoast board chair Adam Kendall presented her the award at the October 22 CSS board meeting.

Ted Ehrlichman, president and CEO of CareerSource Suncoast, said, “I am always grateful when Martha is in a CareerSource meeting, or part of an important thread, because I know that great ideas will turn into positive action!  She has a way of sparking the best win-win teams and solutions for everyone!”

Meyers was selected for the award out of all 24 workforce regions who submitted nominations.  The award recognizes an individual educator’s contribution to workforce development in Florida.  Meyers won the award for being an advocate and champion for workforce-education collaboration in Manatee and Sarasota counties.

“Martha has been an amazing partner who has strengthened Manatee Technical College’s relationships with workforce and the business community,” said Anthony Gagliano, director of business services for CareerSource Suncoast.  “Her tireless energy and ability to connect partners benefits the entire region.”

Meyers serves as the co-chair of the CareerSource Suncoast Skills Council.  CareerSource congratulated her for her efforts to connect students with local employers and employers with Manatee Technical College.  She initiated a ten-week construction express class at MTC to meet local workforce shortages and launched a joint job fair/open house with CSS at MTC that brought in over 1,000 people.

The Florida Workforce Development Association, CareerSource Florida, is a statewide network of career development professionals focused on addressing critical workforce needs.  CareerSource Suncoast learned Meyers had won when they attended the 2015 Workforce Professional Development Summit in Orlando in September.
