MTC earns reaffirmation of accreditation

(Bradenton, FL—October 17, 2017)   Manatee Technical College has earned reaffirmation of accreditation from the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education (COE).  The COE is a national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Reaffirmation denotes that an institution has maintained quality programs, again undergone an extensive self-study and team review process, and has continued to meet the Commission’s Standards and Conditions for Accreditation.  The Commission scheduled MTC’s next reaffirmation to occur in six years (in 2023).

“I am very proud of the work this faculty and staff have done to earn this level of achievement with COE,” said MTC director Valerie Viands, Ed.D.  “Six years until the next reaffirmation is a reflection of the excellence with which everyone at MTC performs his or her job.”

Accreditation is granted annually with subsequent reaffirmation scheduled for two to six years. Each institution must substantiate its accreditation each year through an annual report which reflects the current status of the institution.  MTC has been accredited since 1980.

The primary role of the Council on Occupational Education is to assure quality and integrity in career and technical education.  Accreditation by COE is viewed as a nationally-honored seal of excellence.
