MTC Law Enforcement Academy recertified

(Bradenton, FL—May 27, 2015)  The Law Enforcement Academy at Manatee Technical College (MTC) has been re-awarded Training School Certification by the State of Florida, Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).  In accordance with Florida Statute, the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission approved the recertification for the five-year period of July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2020.

The certification authorizes the MTC Academy to instruct Commission-approved courses in law enforcement, corrections and correctional probation.  The recertification process takes several months to complete and occurs every five years.  It requires an in-depth inspection by FDLE that involves facilities, staffing and equipment to insure the Academy is meeting the high standards that FDLE has set for law enforcement recruits in the State of Florida.

The Law Enforcement Academy at Manatee Technical College prepares students for employment or advanced training as Law Enforcement Officers.  Successful completion of the program prepares graduates to take the State Officer Certification Exam, the test required to become a Certified Law Enforcement Officer in the State of Florida.  The MTC Academy also offers continuing education courses to current Florida Law Enforcement Officers and provides cross-over training to Corrections Officers.
