MTC swept up 33 gold medals at 2024 Florida SkillsUSA

(Bradenton, FL—April 23, 2024) Manatee Technical College students swept up 33 gold medals at the Florida SkillsUSA 2024 State Leadership and Skills Conference in Jacksonville.  Gold medalists will compete in the SkillsUSA National Championships in Atlanta in June. 

In addition to the 33 students who won first place, 15 came in second, and 10 took third place.  Of the 58 medalists, 50 were in the college division, and eight were in the high-school division. 

Here are a few MTC program highlights in the FL-SkillsUSA college division: 

  • Advanced Manufacturing –MTC team placed first in state in Additive Manufacturing, first and second in Robotics and Automation, and second in Job Skills Demonstration,
  • Digital Video—MTC team of two walked away with the gold in TV/Video Production, and team of four students won gold in Video News Production,
  • Dental Assisting – first in state in Dental Assisting, first in Action Skills, and first in Career Pathways-Health Services,
  • Barbering –first and second in state in Barbering, and first in Community Service.

Other highlights include first in state in Automated Manufacturing, Advertising Design, Collision Repair, Diesel Technology, Mechatronics, Marine Service Technology, CNC 2-Axis Turning Programmer, CNC Programmer, and Industrial Motor Control.
