MTC Dental Assisting Technology & Management students held a free clinic at MTC’s East Campus for local students, most of whom had never been to the dentist.

2013 First Responders Challenge
MTI Alumni Services hosted the First Responders Challenge at MTC’s East Campus on Saturday, November 16. Demonstrations included the Fire Challenge, Law Enforcement Challenge and the EMT Challenge as well as the search and rescue and attack dogs from the Bradenton Police Department. Bay Flight also flew in so spectators could get an up close and personal look.

17th Annual Chili Cook-off
MTC hosted their 17th Annual Chili Cook-off on November 15. Students and staff competed to see who had the best chili and proceeds went to United Way. Chili awards: 1st Place – Carpenter, 2nd Place – Cosmetology, 3rd Place – Gamma Iota Chi. Best booth award went to Hospitality and Tourism.

Village de Chefs comes to MTC
Village de Chefs came to MTC on October 8 and 9. Twenty french chefs visited MTC and shared their knowledge with the culinary students. This was the first time this event was held outside of Paris, France.

City of Bradenton Fire Department Donates Truck to MTC East
The Manatee County School Board and MTI Director, Mary Cantrell, accepted a fire truck donated by the City of Bradenton Fire Department. The truck was the third truck to be donated to the school since the Fire Science program originated.

The students from the Criminal Justice Academy graduated on June 16 at MTI’s Main Campus.

Memorial Day Service
MTI students and staff celebrated Memorial Day around the flag pole at the Main Campus on May 22. The American Legion Kirby Stewart Post 24 lead the memorial service.

National Adult Education Honor Society
Twenty-five students were inducted into the National Adult Education Honor Society at Manatee Technical Institute on May 16. The Manatee adult education program serves over 1,200 students. The ones chosen for this honor were in the top two percent of their class.

The 13th Annual Multicultural Festival
Manatee Technical Institute celebrated its 13th Annual Multicultural Festival on Friday, May 3, at the Main Campus. The festival offered a unique experience to showcase our many cultures and gave the public an opportunity to enjoy a tour of our new facilities and learn more about career opportunities.

Manatee Technical Institute inducted 180 students into the National Technical Honor Society in Cantrell Hall on April 17. Induction into the honor society is one of America’s highest awards for excellence in career and technical education.
