Aviation Airframe Mechanics Program:

The Aviation Airframe Mechanics program prepares students for careers maintaining, inspecting, and repairing aircraft structures and systems. Through classroom instruction and extensive hands-on training in MTC’s state-of-the-art aviation facility and hangar, students will develop skills in aircraft construction, sheet metal repair, composites, hydraulics, landing gear systems, electrical systems, flight controls, corrosion control, and aircraft procedures.

This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Transportation, Distribution and Logistics career cluster; provides technical skills proficiency and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to academic knowledge, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, occupation-specific skills, and higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills and knowledge of all aspects of the Transportation, Distribution and Logistics career cluster.

The content includes but is not limited to the following: Aviation maintenance safety and regulations, Aircraft structures and structural repair, Sheet metal fabrication and repair, Composite materials and repair techniques, Aircraft electrical systems, Hydraulic and pneumatic systems, Landing gear systems, Flight control systems and rigging, Corrosion identification and prevention, Aircraft inspections and documentation, Aviation maintenance troubleshooting.

The course content will include training in communications, leadership, human relations, and employability skills, and safe, efficient work practices.

Certification/Licensure:
FAA Airframe Mechanic Certification (Written, Oral, and Practical Examinations)
Progression toward the FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification (Pending FAA Approval)
