Program Description

This course provides knowledge and skills in venous and capillary specimen collection, handling of specimens to OSHA regulations, and performing routine diagnostic hematology tests. At the completion of the course, students are eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Phlebotomy Technician Certification. This course includes Blood Borne Pathogens and Basic Life Support (BLS)

You will need to wear black scrubs bottoms and a white MTC shirt to class. The scrubs can be purchased from any location. The MTC shirt can be purchased from the school bookstore at MTC Main Campus on State Rt 70 .

Pre-requisites

  1. Must be 18 years or older. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Immunizations-documentation to be provided by students. ID, high school diploma and Immunization records, these documents are due 1 week prior to the course start date. 

Other Requirements:

You will need a laptop computer for this class.

Immunization needed:

MMR (Measles/Mumps/Rubella)
Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within last 10 yrs
Tuberculosis (Current/within 12 months)
Varicella (Chicken Pox)

Class Days:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Time: 9am-1pm

Length: 75 hours or approximately 1 month.
