Starting in a blood bus and ending at the altar
(Bradenton, FL–December 14, 2018) Andrew Johnson and Ashley Johnson (no relation) met at MTC (then MTI) when they were both students here in the Fall of 2014. Andrew was in the EMT program renewing his certification, and Ashley was in the Dental Assisting program pursuing her certification. On December 22 this year they will be married!
They went on their first date during Thanksgiving break 2014. Within a few weeks, the smitten Andrew was getting the dental assisting program staff to open Ashley’s locker, so he could put flowers in it to surprise her. “I definitely wanted to wow her!” said Andrew. “She is so spectacular. Who knew the love of my life was going to be just down the hallway!”
Ashley said they first noticed each other when they were donating blood at the beginning of the school year. She said, “I didn’t see him again until November! It was at a combined program pizza party just prior to Thanksgiving break.” She remembered the exact date she found the flowers in her locker.
During their time at MTC, they both competed in SkillsUSA competitions and won medals at the state and national levels.
Ashley is an orthodontic assistant in Bradenton. Andrew has been the youth minister in St. Pete for the last four years. He plans to return to emergency/protective services after their wedding.
