Overview:
• Report to Team Lead
• Set-up, programming, and operation of a 3-axis Hurco CNC Mill, to create parts with a focus on quality and accuracy
• Use of SolidWorks and hyperMILL to program
• Accurately interpret drawings
• Interpret drawings, blueprints, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, tools to be used, and materials for the job and setup requirements.
• Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job
• Take measurements and mark material for cutting
• Perform first op-inspections and quality checks on machined parts
• Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed and identify issues
• Use of other manual equipment and other machinery as needed
• Perform routine machine maintenance and general cleaning of shop
• Ensure the use of proper PPE
• Adhere to Health & Safety guidelines, as well as VTR’s Mission, Vision, and Values
• Other related duties as required
What you bring:
• Post-secondary training/education as a Manual Machinist within a recognized trade program as an asset
• 3-5 years of CNC mill machining experience in an similar manufacturing environment required
• 3-5 years of programming experience using hyperMILL or similar CAD/CAM software required
• SolidWorks experience as an asset
• Experience in similar metal manufacturing environment required; experience with aluminum, stainless steel, mild steel
• Knowledge of Hurco controls as an asset
• Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items (up to 65 lbs).
• Comfortable standing for long periods of time
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals
• Team player while being able to work independently when needed
• Possess excellent manual dexterity and an eye for detail
• Knowledge of the properties of metal and other materials
• Own toolbox and tools
• CSA-approved safety shoes
