Job Title: Electrician 

Department: Maintenance 

Position Summary: Responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems across campus facilities. This includes academic buildings, dormitories, athletic facilities, and administrative spaces. This role is critical in ensuring safe, reliable, and code-compliant environment for student-athletes, team members, and guests within a 24/7 residential campus community.  

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, lighting, and equipment across campus facilities  

Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, including power outages, faulty circuits, and equipment malfunctions  

Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems to ensure reliability and code compliance  

Maintain and repair interior and exterior lighting, including dorms athletic fields, walkways, and emergency lighting systems 

Support and maintain backup power systems, including generators and transfer switches  

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams  

Ensure all electrical work complies with NEC, state, and local codes, as well as IMGA safety standards  

Respond promptly to electrical service requests, work orders, and urgent or after-hours repairs  

Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and system status 

Monitor electrical systems and report major repair or upgrade needs to leadership  

Assist in overseeing and coordinating work performed by outside electrical contractors and vendors  

Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, clean, and organized manner  

Maintain a professional and courteous attitude with all student athletes, team members, guests, contractors, and vendors  

Support campus events and operations requiring temporary or specialized electrical setups  

Other duties as assigned by management 

 

Qualifications: 

Valid Florida Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one 

Valid Electrician License (Journeyman or Master preferred, depending on state requirements)  

Minimum 3+ years of electrical experience in commercial, institutional, or campus environments preferred  

Strong knowledge of electrical systems, troubleshooting, and code compliance  

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints 

Experience operating heavy equipment (boom lifts, scissor lifts, telehandlers/lulls) in accordance with safety standards; certifications preferred  

Familiarity with low-voltage systems (fire alarms, access control, data systems) is a plus  

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or within a team  

Commitment to safety, efficiency, and high-quality workmanship  

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment 

Ability to lift, carry, move, push and pull equipment or boxes up to 50lbs 

Ability to stand and walk for duration of shift 

Ability to climb ladders and work at high elevations 

Ability to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time. 

Ability to work on various indoor and outdoor surfaces including grass, turf, courts, etc. in all weather 

Ability to operate office equipment such as computers 

Requires manual dexterity to use and operate equipment and tools 

Ability to work days, nights, weekends and holidays as needed
