What You'll Do
Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade database software and related systems.
Monitor database health, performance, capacity, and security.
Configure and maintain database servers.
Maintain the integrity, availability, security, and performance of company databases.
Troubleshoot database and software issues and perform root-cause analysis.
Manage database access, user accounts, permissions, and security levels.
Design and maintain database backup and recovery processes.
Establish and maintain disaster recovery procedures.
Perform database recovery and support business continuity efforts.
Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
Supervise and coordinate modifications to existing database software to meet business requirements.
Develop and maintain database management procedures and standards.
Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
Support data analysis models and procedures.
Develop automation for repetitive database administration and maintenance tasks.
Perform capacity planning to support current and future business requirements.
Recommend and help implement emerging database technologies, products, and software.
Communicate database changes and provide training and tools to end users.
Provide end-to-end technical support and problem resolution.
Work with users and leadership to understand business needs and develop effective technology solutions.
Participate in projects involving database development, integration, reporting, and system improvements.
Provide on-call support as needed.

What You Bring
Core Qualifications – Expected on Day 1
2–4 years of professional experience in database administration or a related technical field.
Solid experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL, including day-to-day database administration, querying, troubleshooting, and support.
Working knowledge of relational database concepts, database design, indexing, and query performance fundamentals.
Experience with database backup and recovery procedures and an understanding of disaster recovery concepts.
Working knowledge of database security, including users, roles, permissions, and appropriate access controls.
Experience troubleshooting database and software issues and performing root-cause analysis.
Some experience with SQL scripting, PowerShell, or another scripting/automation technology.
Working knowledge of Python and JSON, with the ability to understand, troubleshoot, and make modifications to existing scripts and data-processing routines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to data accuracy.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and communicate technical information to technical and non-technical employees.
Skills to Develop and Expand in the Role
SQL Server performance tuning, including execution plans, indexing strategies, blocking, deadlocks, and resource utilization.
Administration and troubleshooting of SQL Server Agent jobs, schedules, alerts, and automated database maintenance.
SSIS and SSRS or comparable data integration and reporting technologies.
PowerShell and SQL scripting for increased automation of database administration, monitoring, and maintenance.
ETL/ELT processes and data integration using APIs, JSON, flat files, and other application-to-database interfaces.
Database monitoring, logging, alerting, capacity planning, and proactive identification of system issues.
Database and application dependency analysis, including evaluating the downstream impact of server, database, schema, stored procedure, integration, and configuration changes.
Documentation of database environments, scheduled jobs, integrations, dependencies, recovery procedures, and technical configurations.
Expanded knowledge of database security, auditing, encryption, least-privilege access, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
Preferred / Additional Experience
Experience with MySQL or other relational database platforms.
Familiarity with Azure SQL, Azure SQL Managed Instance, or other cloud database platforms and general cloud infrastructure concepts.
Familiarity with Git or other source-control systems for SQL scripts, stored procedures, database objects, and automation code.
Understanding of CI/CD and database change-management concepts.
Experience with SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) or other analytical technologies.
Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
Understanding of data warehousing, data governance, and modern data architecture concepts.
Familiarity with AI-assisted development and database administration tools used to improve troubleshooting, documentation, automation, and productivity.
Interest in evaluating emerging database and data technologies based on security, reliability, performance, scalability, cost, maintainability, and business requirements.
Education
A Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
Equivalent professional experience and technical expertise may also be considered.
