CareerEdge Offers Tuition-Free Plumbing Fast-Track Training | From Sarasota Magazine

Local plumbing companies are partnering with CareerEdge and Manatee Technical College (MTC) to offer a free, fast-track plumbing course, which will launch in January. The training provides a gateway for individuals to enter an industry with upward mobility opportunities and to earn higher wages with benefits. It addresses the needs of plumbing employers that want to recruit and rapidly train people for a very specific skill set, and then develop these employees further over time through internships and apprenticeship programs.

The tuition-free class will begin Jan. 23, 2021, and concludes in June. Class will be held in the evening Monday through Thursday from 6-10 p.m., and every first and third Saturday of the month from 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m., at MTC’s campus. The program also includes CareerEdge’s “Bridges to Careers” soft skills training and internships.  Plumbing company representatives will volunteer to teach modules in the class to enhance the hands-on, real-world nature of the program.

No technical experience is required for this training, and all interested applicants will need to apply for the free program and be screened by the college and employers. Interested applicants must apply by Nov. 9, 2020. Those selected will be notified and must attend a mandatory information session. For more information, click here.
