Director of police academy in LWR receives award | From the Sarasota Herald Tribune
Jay Romine, director of the Law Enforcement Academy of Manatee Technical College, was presented with a Wall of Honor award by the Florida Police Chiefs Association for his service to the association.
Romine is the retired chief of the Holmes Beach Police Department. During his tenure as police chief, he served as president of the FCPA in 2004-2005, as well as multiple positions on the FPCA’s Board of Directors and Executive Board. He holds the distinction of being awarded the FPCA’s President’s Award in 2000, 2003, and 2011. He was also recognized for “…how he distinguished himself as a legislative juggernaut in his years as the chair of the FPCA’s Legislative Committee that fortified the FPCA as a major player in Tallahassee politics that continues to the present day.”
He received the honor on August 3, 2016, during the FCPA’s annual Summer Training Conference in Bonita Springs, Florida.
