Manatee Technical College to offer health career summer camp | From the Bradenton Herald

A grant from the Gulfcoast South Area Health Education Center will allow high school students to explore health care career fields during a free summer camp at Manatee Technical College.

The health careers summer camp will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 13-20 at the MTC East Campus. A maximum of 20 sophomores, juniors or seniors can attend.

The camp will offer interactive and hands-on health care career exploration activities, including career games and a field trip to Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Lakewood Ranch. Students can explore careers in dental and optometric assisting, pharmacy tech, massage therapy, medical assisting, nursing, firefighter-EMT and fire-medic.

GSAHEC will provide special sessions on health careers, financial aid, and tobacco prevention, and MTC’s Community Training Center for the American Heart Association will provide training in CPR and AED for adults, children and infants.

MTC instructors Brenda Ware and David Harris are organizers.
