The region’s workforce board will host the Florida Manufacturing Career Fair from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Manatee Technical College, 6305 State Road 70.

“I am showing right now we have 367 active job postings for manufacturers in Sarasota and Manatee,” said Anthony Gagliano, director of business services at CareerSource Suncoast.

The list of local companies to be represented includes larger well-known companies such as Air Products, now making giant liquefied natural gas devices in Palmetto; PGT Inc., which makes storm-resistant doors and windows in Venice; and Sun Hydraulics Corp., which makes hydraulic valves in Sarasota and Manatee counties.

But the list also includes less-obvious possibilities, such as Adams Group, which makes custom cabinets in North Port, and MedOne Surgical Inc. of South Manatee County, which makes tiny surgical devices in a clean-room setting.

“Right now, we have 15 employees,” MedOne vice president Julie Ovens said.

Much of the work there is done under a microscope, gluing tiny parts together, she said. The company pays entry-level wages of $12-$13 per hour. Depending on experience, the company also has a slot for an engineer.

The Bradenton event is open to the public. Employers have positions ranging from entry level to experienced.
