MTC students win state Ford/AAA auto skills event | From the Bradenton Herald

BRADENTON — Manatee Technical College students Dylan Jones and Tim Thompson won the 2015 Florida Ford/AAA Auto Skills competition April 24 in Sanford.

Thompson and Jones are high school seniors dually enrolled at Manatee Technical College in the automotive service technology career certificate program.

Thompson and Jones competed against nine teams to quickly diagnose and fix uniformly “bugged” Ford vehicles.

They won a box full of tools and $25,000 in scholarship opportunities to the University of Northwestern Ohio, Universal Technical Institute in Orlando, or Seminole State College.

Thompson and Jones will represent Florida at the national competition June 6-10 at Ford headquarters in Dearborn, Mich.
