Two MTC students, top finalists at 2024 HOSA Conference

(Bradenton, FL—July 3, 2024) Two Manatee Technical College students achieved top finalist status, which earned them a spot on the stage at the HOSA 2024 International Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas. 

  • Riley McDonough was a top finalist in two competitions: Occupational Health/Safety and Pharmacy Science. 
  • Galilea Sanchez Velazquez was a top finalist for the Human Growth and Development competition. 

Both students competed in the Collegiate division.  McDonough is a Pharmacy Technology student and Sanchez is in Medical Assisting.

At the conference, over 10,000 students vie to become international champions; only a small percentage earn a medal or achieve top finalist status. In each competition, the Future Health Professionals display their knowledge of college and career readiness.  Over 600 health professionals serve as judges.
